Designed for the end user who is uncertain exactly which weapon he/she will be issued prior to deployment, Specter Gear developed the Armed Forces Deployment Package (#563). The AFDP is comprised of Specter Gear Universal 2 Point Tactical Slings (#541) and the required front and rear adapters to attach the sling to the following weapons: M-16A1, M-16A2, M-16A4, M-16 / M-203, M-4, M-4A1, M-4/M-203 and the Benelli M1014. The main portion of the 2 point sling is made of 1.5" webbing. The purpose of the 1.5" width is to better distribute the weight of the weapon. The front adjustment strap portion of the sling is constructed of friction resistant PALS webbing, with a Mil-spec steel adjuster slide. The 8" paracord pull tab makes transitioning the steel adjuster buckle smooth. Conventional 3 point slings that are solidly attached to the side of the weapon don't hang well in anything but the "off side drop" carry mode and have a tendency to bind up and limit efficient movement of the weapon during positional shooting. So, for the 2 point tactical sling, Specter Gear chose flexible 1" attachment straps to be used at each end of the sling to interface with the mounting adapter sling loops or sling swivels. The 1" straps move, shift and conform within the sling loops to allow the 2 point tactical sling to move more efficiently with the weapon thus enhancing free movement of the weapon and allowing the weapon to hang in a more vertical orientation while being used in the "Military Patrol Ready" carry mode.
